This Privacy Policy explains how Talk Arabic ("we", "us", "our") handles your personal information. We are an Australian online Arabic-learning service. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you use our service, we may collect:
- your name and email address;
- your phone number;
- billing and payment information, processed for us by Stripe (we do not store your full card details);
- enrolment and learning data (such as course selections, lesson scheduling and progress);
- support correspondence (such as emails and messages you send us); and
- website analytics data (such as pages visited), collected in a privacy-friendly way.
2. How we collect and hold it
We collect personal information directly from you through our web forms (enquiry forms provided by Web3Forms; post-enrolment student forms provided by Tally), Stripe checkout, cookies and analytics on our website, and email. In some cases we may receive it from our service providers acting on our behalf.
We hold your information in electronic form with our service providers and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
3. Why we use it
We use your personal information to:
- provide our courses and run your enrolment, scheduling and learning experience;
- process payments and manage billing;
- respond to your enquiries and provide support;
- send you service-related and, where permitted, marketing communications (you can opt out at any time, consistent with the Spam Act 2003);
- operate, maintain, secure and improve our website and service; and
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@talkarabic.co. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will explain why.
5. Complaints
If you think we have breached your privacy, please email hello@talkarabic.co with details. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and respond to you within a reasonable time.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
6. Overseas recipients, retention and other important information
Overseas recipients. We use a small number of reputable service providers, some of whom are located overseas, including:
- Stripe (payments) — United States and Ireland;
- Web3Forms (enquiry-form submissions) — operated from India; data processed on servers in the United States;
- Tally (post-enrolment student forms) — Belgium (European Union);
- Vercel (website hosting) — United States;
- Plausible (privacy-friendly analytics) — European Union; and
- our course teachers and contractors, who may be located overseas (Türkiye, Jordan).
We take reasonable steps to ensure these overseas recipients handle your personal information consistently with the APPs.
Data retention. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, and then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Cookies. Our website uses cookies and analytics as described in section 2 and in our Cookie & Email Policy; you can manage cookies through your browser settings. Language auto-detection uses your browser's language settings and device time zone on your own device only — this information is never sent to us.
Adults and minors. Our service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. Minors may only use it with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without consent — if you believe we have, please contact us and we will remove it.
International users. If you are outside Australia, you may have additional rights under your local laws (for example, Türkiye's KVKK or the EU GDPR). Please contact us if you would like to exercise any such rights.
Changes to this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, will always be available on our website.
